About Entropía Educativa Journal


Entropía Educativa Journal is an academic publication edited in Bogotá, Colombia, that addresses the challenges and opportunities posed by new technologies and digital media in the educational field. Its purpose is to disseminate scientific knowledge and best practices in four interrelated fields: e-learning, digital communication, social and human sciences, and digital transmedia narrative. These areas of study are analyzed from a multidisciplinary and critical perspective, seeking to understand how they articulate and influence each other in different teaching and learning scenarios, both online and in-person, and how they can contribute to improving educational quality and innovation in the 21st century.

Founded in 2023, our journal is committed to academic excellence and the promotion of scientific knowledge for the benefit of the international educational community, and is part of Entropía Educativa - Centro de Investigación .

Mission and Vision


Mission

To disseminate original and innovative research in the educational field that contributes to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the improvement of pedagogical practices at all educational levels, promoting open access to knowledge and the democratization of scientific information.

Vision

To consolidate ourselves as one of the most recognized scientific education journals at the Ibero-American level, being a reference in the publication of quality research that positively impacts educational systems and the training of education professionals.

Focus and Scope

Entropía Educativa Journal critically and multidisciplinarily analyzes the transformations of contemporary education through the fields of technology, communication, and digital humanities. It focuses on understanding how these areas articulate with each other in current teaching and learning processes. It seeks to explore the opportunities and challenges they pose to improve education and promote a strategic vision of what it means to learn and teach in the digital age.


Focus areas:


E-learning

Studies new teaching models and methods driven by digital technologies, analyzing the design of online learning platforms, support technologies, and open educational resources.

Digital communication

Addresses the media transformation of communication and social interaction, focusing on its implications for educational communication and the development of digital skills.

Digital humanities

Investigates the impact of technology on academic and teaching practices from a sociocultural and humanistic perspective.

Authors are actively encouraged to disseminate, share, and publish the postprint or final versions of their work in academic networks, repositories, and personal websites, which contributes to increasing its impact and ensuring early recognition of the research, always citing the first edition in Entropía Educativa.

Publication Frequency

The journal has a biannual frequency, with issues published in June and December each year.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

All content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

Double-Blind Peer Review Process

Its editorial process is based on the double-blind peer review system, following the publication standards of the American Psychological Association (APA 7th edition). This review method ensures that published articles have been subjected to rigorous, objective, and transparent scrutiny, granting them a high level of reliability and prestige.

The process includes:

  • Initial review by the editor to verify compliance with standards and relevance
  • Evaluation by at least two external academic peers (double-blind system)
  • Average review period: 8-12 weeks
  • Acceptance rate: 45%

La revista Entropía Educativa reconoce la importancia de la preservación digital como un componente esencial para garantizar el acceso continuo, abierto y seguro al conocimiento científico. En concordancia con los principios de ciencia abierta y soberanía del conocimiento, establece la siguiente política de archivo:

Preservación a largo plazo

Todos los artículos publicados en Entropía Educativa son almacenados en formatos digitales estables (PDF/A y XML-JATS) que aseguran su integridad, legibilidad y accesibilidad a largo plazo. Se realizan copias de seguridad periódicas en servidores seguros, tanto locales como en la nube, para prevenir la pérdida de información.

Repositories and preservation platforms

The journal actively participates in digital preservation networks and platforms that guarantee distributed replication of its contents. These include:

Open and perpetual access

Entropía Educativa mantiene un compromiso con el acceso abierto y gratuito a todo su contenido. Los artículos seguirán siendo accesibles de forma permanente, incluso si la revista cesa sus operaciones, gracias a su inclusión en plataformas de preservación externas.

Los autores pueden autoarchivar las versiones pre-print y post-print de sus artículos en repositorios institucionales o temáticos, con la obligación de citar la fuente final de publicación.

Repository Policy

Entropía Educativa Journal actively promotes the free and responsible circulation of scientific knowledge. In accordance with the principles of open access, open science, and knowledge sovereignty, it establishes the following policy for depositing its contents in institutional, thematic, and digital preservation repositories.

Repository deposit

Entropía Educativa authorizes and encourages the deposit of all versions of articles (preprint, postprint, and final editorial version) in institutional, thematic, national, and international repositories, provided that copyright is respected and the original publication source is properly cited.

Articles may be deposited in:

  • Institutional repositories of universities and research centers.
  • Thematic repositories in areas of education, social sciences, humanities, and technology.

The journal uses the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) protocol to facilitate the collection and dissemination of its metadata by repositories and indexing systems. This ensures the visibility, traceability, and reuse of published contents.

All articles published in Entropía Educativa are available under Creative Commons licenses (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), which allows their free distribution, reproduction, and public communication, provided that authorship and the original source are acknowledged.
